Well hello!! It has been a great week of transition moving to our mission office and becoming the new operations manager for the Taiwan Taichung Mission. Life honestly picked up a ton! It is a little rough because we have very little proselyting time because we have to spend most of our time keeping the mission running. Yet, it has taught me a lot about prioritizing.
The theme of this week was broken water heaters. I learned a lot really quickly about logistics of general life management. I had never touched a water heater before in my life, but after some carbon monoxide alarms went off, I learned really quick how to troubleshoot, fix, and talk about them in Chinese! So, pretty fun!
What is even weirder is I have now become the Mission Vehicle Fleet Manager (as the church calls it), and get to drive our mission’s 3 vehicles! My first time driving in Taiwan was yesterday and was super intense! It becomes somewhat of a free-for-all. There is a flow that you just go with and it works out okay. You just have to learn how to not disrupt the flow! It was fun, though, and learning to avoid the millions of scooters that swerve all around you was an adventure in itself!
On Wednesday, we went on a big trip to fix a bunch of things and run errands, and ended up driving all the way down to Pingdong to fix some stuff, and back to Taizhong in one day. So we traveled across half the entire country, down to the southernmost tip, and back. The whole while we drove through every single one of my former areas, which was super weird, yet rather nostalgic! I am coming to see the good and learning experiences I will have while in the office.
Right now we are redesigning the entire English teaching program for our entire mission. It is a big task to implement a program across an entire country! It should be another great learning experience!
Here is a picture of Monday night when some of my best friends in the mission stayed in our apartment and flew home the next morning! It is really weird that most all my good friends I looked up to since I was a young missionary are all home!
I love you all and hope you are having an excellent week! Keep up the good work, stay faithful, diligent and obedient! Read pray and go to church!
